Story Review
Set against the backdrop of Goa's criminal underworld, the story follows Raya (Yash), a feared gangster whose life revolves around power, family loyalty, betrayal, and revenge. As he rises through the ranks of the underworld, personal relationships and deadly conspiracies begin to tear his world apart.
While the premise sounds promising on paper, the execution proves to be the film's biggest weakness. The screenplay constantly jumps between family drama, gangster politics, romance, revenge, and action without fully developing any of these elements. Several emotional moments feel forced, and the narrative often loses focus.
At over three hours in length, Toxic becomes increasingly exhausting. Instead of building tension, many scenes stretch far beyond necessity, making the film feel self-indulgent and repetitive.
Yash's Performance
Yash is undoubtedly the film's biggest strength. He effortlessly carries the swagger, charisma, and larger-than-life screen presence that made Rocky Bhai a cultural phenomenon. His entry scenes, action blocks, and intense moments are among the few aspects that genuinely excite viewers.
Unfortunately, even Yash cannot overcome the limitations of the script. While he looks stylish throughout, the character lacks the emotional depth and memorable writing that defined his KGF journey.
Nayanthara
Nayanthara starts strongly and appears to have a significant role in the story. However, as the narrative progresses, her character becomes sidelined, leaving audiences wanting more. Despite limited scope, she delivers a sincere performance and brings emotional weight to key scenes.
Kiara Advani
Kiara Advani looks glamorous and performs her role confidently, but her character is underwritten. The film rarely gives her enough material to create a lasting impact.
Huma Qureshi
Huma Qureshi adds intensity whenever she appears and delivers a competent performance. She manages to stand out despite limited screen time.
Tara Sutaria
Tara Sutaria performs adequately
